washington, d.c., december 13, 2006 - the american association of colleges of nursing (aacn) and aftercollege have formed a strategic partnership that will provide scholarships and access to job opportunities to tens of thousands of nursing students nationwide. aacn, in conjunction with aftercollege, will award scholarships to nursing students pursuing baccalaureate and graduate degrees at affiliated nursing schools. at the same time, aftercollege will enable students to research relevant job opportunities from its nationwide network of employers through job resource centers available on nursing schools' web sites and through an exclusive job resource center on the aacn web site.

the partnership provides for an aftercollege/aacn scholarship program that will award $20,000 in funding annually to students pursuing baccalaureate and graduate degrees at constituent aacn schools. scholarship preference will be given to students pursuing doctoral degrees as well as students enrolled in accelerated programs at the baccalaureate and master's levels.

aftercollege currently provides job resource centers to 317 nursing schools and associations throughout the country. through the new partnership, all 600 aacn-member nursing schools will be able to provide their students and alumni with targeted job opportunities and announcements at the local, state and national levels.
