National University San Diego- October 2012 Cohort

U.S.A. California

As today was TEAS/essay day, I think it safe to say cohort 32 is pretty well established. So now that the last hoop has been jumped through, now its just a waiting game!

How does everyone else feel about their points? I talked to a few people today during the essay, and was hearing some pretty low scores being accepted. I was told a TEAS score above 70 was acceptable (shocking!!), and that the average cut off for the last cohort was between 84-85 points.

I'm looking at being between 87-91 points (depending on my essay, which i realistically expect a 4/5 on). I scored 87 on my TEAS, have all A's with a B+ in BioMedStats, and didn't repeat classes. The B+ drives me crazy, but from what Im seeing many people are applying with multiple B's and get accepted.

For people reading this that havent applied for their cohort yet, you dont need to take the TEAS at national!! Do NOT wait till that day to take it for your first any only time, thats insane! You can take it every day at SDSU, over and over again, until you get a good score. I am astonished by ppl who are only taking it once at National.

So, at the end of next month we'll find out if we are accepted or denied. Hows everyone else feelng?

Hi Makayla! I recently applied for cohort 32 and I am taking the TEAS and proctored essay on Tuesday. It is great advice to take the TEAS at SDSU first and I did that a few months ago. I passed and I am hoping to raise my score on Tuesday. We will see! =)

There are a lot of really great candidates for this program and I wish everyone the best of luck. Tuesday can't come soon enough..........and after that, July (finding out if I made it!).

It sounds like to you will have no problem getting accepted Makayla!

Hi Makayla and Zannica!

I also did my TEAS/essay on Tuesday, June 5. I was impressed with the score I got in my TEAS (90.7!!!!) I almost cried when I printed my results. However, I have two B's in my science prerequisites. I'm looking forward to get 4/5 in my essay and, if I'm calculating all my points correctly, I will have a total of 89 points. But, if I receive a 4.5 or 5 in my essay I could earn a total of 91-93 points! I wish you ladies good luck and let's stay in touch.

Hello there,

I took my teas test today and I am not happy with my result. If they are going to solely focus on the teas result I don't think that I'm gonna get in to the program but if they will score it as a whole including the grades etc., then I may get a chance to be in the program because I got all A's and did not repeat any classes.

Btw, how did you get your total admission score?

Thanks!

Hi everyone!

I too applied for this cohort but it took my TEAS/essay in May. Now for the waiting game....I want to find out already!

Me too!!! I'm kinda scared to know the result! I may take another shot to take the TEAS, if I only knew that SDSU offers the TEAS test almost everyday, I should have taken it before my scheduled exam at NU like what Makayla suggested..

I'm praying NU won't just focus on the TEAS test results... fingers crossed!!!

Hi there! Do you know if you can get a 4.5/5 on the essay or if it is just 1,2,3,4 or 5/5????

I too have all A's and did not do so well on the TEAS. We will see. It seems like the one's who do the best on the TEAS do not have all A's in the core classes. At least on a whole.....we will see. Now, we wait ;) The National Average for the TEAS is 64%!!! I certainly have well above that, but not in the upper 80's and 90's like many of the applicants. :o:nurse:

Wahoo! that is amazing!!!!!!!! You should have no problem getting in. If I calculated my points correctly, and this is if I get a 5/5 on my essay, then I have 87 points. We will see. Does anyone get a 5/5 on their essay? I think I did quite well on the essay portion. I just took the TEAS on the 12th. :paw: I am exhausted!!!! Taking two classes right now ;)

Hi Zannica,

I did mine on the 12th as well!!! I was sitting all the way at the back :-)... Anyway, with regards to the essay points as per what I have read from the previous postings, yes it's possible to get a 4.5, 3.5 etc...

I was not happy with my TEAS result so I may take it maybe sometime in August..

LOL I was sitting all the way in the back too! I was the one on the very right.....

It was a hard test and I took the TEAS at SDSU last month and did much better so I kept that score. Where in the back were you sitting? Hopefully our scores were worthy of being accepted, plus all of the other considerations. Thanks for the info! :)

haha lol! we're you the one who's sitting next to the printer?? I was sitting 2nd to the left and then when the teas started I moved to 3rd to the left... I was sitting with my previous classmates.. 3 of us were on the same exam..

i'm ready for whatever the results will be... if i get in then thanks to God but if not i will try it again next time..its just that i'm very anxious to know the result but i guess we have 1 more month and almost 15 days to wait ;-(

Hi Makayla,

I'm currently trying to apply for National's nursing program this coming October.

I have took the TEAS 3 times at SDSU, for their nursing program already (but got denied) . I don't want to just bank on just ONE chance at the TEAS with National.

Do you think I could still take the TEAS again at SDSU over and over again until I'm satisfied with a high score, even if i have already took it 3 times at SDSU before?

Thanks so much for you help!
