National criminal background check for school

I need a criminal background check, but I've lived in multiple states. Calling the capital and DPS (I live in Texas) only covers TX. How can I get a national one?

Ask the school what they want and where to get it, but I bet they want an FBI background check. You can google this to find out how to do it. Some states, like California, require the applicant get an FBI background check for licensure or endorsement. Some schools are requiring it as well.
