National Council? prep course?

Has anyone done the ncsbn (National Council of State Boards of Nursing) on-line prep course at http://www.learningext.com/

One of our instructors told us that these are the people who actually write the questions for the NCLEX. I don't know if that's true or not.

So, does anyone have any experience with this? Any results? Thoughts? Pros or Cons?

I wrote earlier and said that I liked the learningext.com review but couldn't say for sure till I took the test. Well I took the test on 6/21 and found out today I passed! But having taken the test I would reccomend it. It helps you use your critical thinking skills. So this paired with something with content review (like saunders) I think works very well. Two days before the test a friend told me to look at Kaplan RN success for ways to think through questions. I know this is cheap, but since it was only two days before I took the test I went to Borders and read threw the ways to think through a question. I found this helpfull and made me feel more confident because it emphasizes that its not about what you know (bc you can't know everything) it's more about whether you can think through a question. I didn't practice the questions..so I would recommend doing what I did (it's cheaper). But if you use those ways during the nclex review I think it would help a lot.

Congrats to you Christi for passing. I'm taking the learningext review online as well and think that the questions are extremely hard. I'm also using Saunder's and the 2005 Kaplan book as well. I hope that I'll be ready for this test by next thursday.

CONGRATS!!! How well did you say you were scoring on the NCSBN review tests? I was ranging from 65-85% for the majority. I am so scared to take the test!! Was it really as hard as I think it is going to be? I heard you walk out feeling clueless whether you passed or not. Congrats again! jess:balloons::balloons:

I took the NCLEX EXCEL oput out by Drexel UNiversity...they guarantee you pass the NCLEX or your money back...

http://nursing.drexel.edu/excel/index.cfm?action=pw_login yoou can find out info on this link...after the review class which is 4 days you have a CD with alot of practice questions, and a online acess for 8 weeks which qgives you a review of systems...test questions and is wonderful......................I found it very helpful...plus I used saunders, mosby's and lippencott NCLEX review study books..........THRESSA

I loved the learningext.com. I found these questions to be very similar to the questions on the NCLEX exam. Very helpful and very affordable!

Don't feel bad about having low scores. Seriously I was scoring mostly from the 50's-70s and some 80's. All my classmates that have passed the boards also scored this way. I would reccomend the last day you have the course to retake the pretest to see how much progess you made (mine was still only 83%). I thought the questions were the most similar to the boards, but I wouldn't say exactly the same. The boards were totally different than anything I have ever seen before. Its all about taking your time and thinking through each question. Also STAY CALM. I believe this helped me the most. I did have to go to the bathroom three times but everytime I went in I looked in the mirror and was like "I'm passing this." I think that believing in yourself helps too. And don't feel that you didn't study enough because you can never know everythinig and this is how I felt..don't waste your time with that.

Hi I've seen one of your threads and wondered if you could help me? I'm a 39 year old Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife from the Uk who wishes to loacte to Virginia in June/July 2008 and wondered if you could advise me on the Hospitals doing direct hire?

We are coming over in Jan 2007 and would love to have a better idea of the Hospitals etc prior to coming. I am a gynaecology Nurse and would love to work in Labour and Delivery Room/Antenatl/Postnatal care.
