Has anyone done the LPN-RN program at Nassau community college? I’m curious about the admissions process. They have on their website that if you finish an LPN program with an average of a 90 or higher, you do not have to take the TEAS or the excelsior exam. Does anyone know how much that helps with getting into the program? I’m in an LPN program right now and my average is above a 90 so I’m really interested but I’m not sure how much weight it has compared to other things. I’ve emailed them but I get very vague answers

Hello, I am applying for the Spring semester. From what I've gathered if you are an LPN graduate from their partner schools with a 90 and above then you do not take the excelsior or TEAS. If you graduated from a different school then you do need to take the excelsior. I would attend a nursing info session to get more details, I got most of my answers there.

I’m always at work when they have their info sessions ? I definitely want to attend one soon. I’m graduating from one of their partner schools so far with a 90 or above in everything, I’m mostly just wondering how much weight that has when you apply. Like I know a lot of schools do a rubric for the TEAS so do they just give you the max points as if you had taken the TEAS? I’m so confused about how much it actually helps your application LOL
So it’s great that you have a 90 but they go based on other things as well. For example, how many pre reqs classes have you taken at Nassau that are towards the nursing degree, your grades on those classes. They will prioritize someone who has a lot of the Nassau non nursing courses done over someone who graduated with a 90 from a LPN program or someone who has a higher score in a TEAS exam. They go through applications and use a point scale. More classes you’ve taken, more points. Hope that makes sense. I deff would attend that info session as it will be very helpful. Good luck.

Hello,
I have applied for the Spring semester 2023. From what I've understood in informational meeting yesterday, if you are an LPN graduate from their partner schools with a 90 and above then you do not take the excelsior test or TEAS. However graduated from a different school then you do need to take the excelsior. I would email the Nurse admission director, she can forward the slides from last night. And yes being an LPN will give you advantage on application vs someone who has no nursing experience.
