Hello, I have 2 issues here today....
I wanted to know where I could find NURSING articles related to Nasogastric tubes. I SPECIFICALLY need articles on the reasoning behind checking the NGT residual and more importantly, WHY THE NURSE HAS TO RETURN THE GASTRIC CONTENT INTO THE STOMACH. I know this is r/t electrolyte imbalances but I am having such as hard time finding articles on this issue!!
1. The only articles I was able to find was on insertion or placement of NGT's & drug administration. Does anyone have any idea where I could find nursing articles within the last 5 years specifically for the topic above? - "putting back residual into stomach"
2. Also, if no one could find articles r/t this issue, could you please explain what electrolytes relate to the dangers of not putting the residual back into the stomach, and what s/s may occur??
THANK YOU - ZACKIE -

Does the library at your school provide access to databases such as CINAHL? That's a great place to find evidence-based practice articles about tons of different topics.
Tried that, did not have anything pertaining to the specific topic + has to be nursing journal only within the last 5 years :(

Try searching on Google Scholar. It can help you find articles or journals. I used it a lot in school.
