I was wondering if anyone has worked or is working for Healthways doing telephonic disease management? I would like to know anything you can tell me about the job, the working environment, pay, benefits, etc. I think it has also been called American Healthways. I am getting ready to apply at the local branch, which I think is in Franklin.

Thanks!

I work for Healthways, but I am a Lifestyle Management coach currently until I start nursing school. My bachelors degree is in Health Promotion/Exercise Science and we don't have Disease Management at our location but I can still tell you about the environment. I make $16.65 an hour, so I know an RN would obviously make more but I don't know how much. Honestly, this is my first job out of school and it is what made me want to go back to school to continue my education and find something hands on. I really hate sitting all day long at a desk and answering phone calls and making outgoing calls. A lot of times I feel like a telemarketer and get hung up on. However, I really do truly value those people that I have been speaking with on a regular basis that do enjoy and look forward to my monthly calls, which does make the job worthwhile. Personally I just can't sit still very long, and a desk job isn't for me. I don't have much to compare to since this is my first job out of school, but the benefits seem pretty good. I get about 7 hours of PTO accrued for each biweekly paycheck which seems nice.

Good luck!

Also Healthways did make this list for 2008....

FORTUNE's 2008 list of "100 Best Companies to Work For." The Company ranked No. 80.

I know this post started awhile ago, but it is still part of my subscribed threads, and something happened recently that I thought anyone interested in Healthways would be interested in knowing. I don't work for Healthways any longer, because I'm going back to school full time this May, and my last day was in early April, but just last week the company laid off A LOT of employees in both Ohio locations. Those that they let stay are also being forced to work from home, rather than have the option to work in the office location, which they closed. Not sure if anything is happening elsewhere within the company, but just thought I'd let you all know!

Thanks for the heads-up! I did apply at the job fair in March, and got really favorable feedback, so I left thinking I had the job. A couple of days later, I received an email from the HR person assigned to me, saying that they were not going to be hiring for the positions after all, but would know more at the beginning of the next quarter. I thought this might be a brush-off, but I checked around, and they had pulled all their ads. I couldn't wait, though, and took a job doing home health. In mid-April (a couple of weeks into the next quarter), I emailed again. They are *still* not hiring! So, as good as the benefits sounded, I guess it worked out for the best. If they had hired me, then suffered whatever financial setbacks they seem to be having, I'm sure I would have been the first one let go!
