Hi everyone! Just found this great site and am excited to communicate with others. I certified as a CNA last fall. I was hired to work in a nursing home but soon found that I physically was not strong enough to lift residents/patients. I think I have now found a better position which will not be so physically compromising to me. I start in one week as a Nurse Tech II in a OB/GYN/Maternity Section in a local hospital. I'm wondering if I can get some feed back from anyone about what I can expect in this position. I'm very excited about this new opportunity and I know I will be learning many new and different things. I'm also considering starting LPN classes next year. Thanks!

Welcome!!
I work in L&D and our techs scrub in for c/sections, tubal ligations, etc. The assist us in deliveries (time permitting), stock rooms, provide general patient care, bathe babies after delivery, etc.
They are truly a valuable asset to our unit.

Thank you so much for your response to my query! I have been told that I will be working with the Moms and Babies, assisting docs with circumsions, doing PKU sticks but I couldn't help but think about what else I'll be doing. Thanks for giving me some additional thoughts about how my days might be filled!
Regards,
