My first time giving flu shot

Published

Today was the worst day ever! This is my first semester in nursing school. We had to do meds and injections. I had to give a flu shot. Well I don't know if I misunderstood my instructor but I could've sworn she told me to inject the needle half way since the pt was small. The worst part of the story is I was so nervous my hands started to shake and the needle kept going in and out with the pt moving her arm I decided to pull the needle out without giving all the medication my instructor got so angry and I feel so horrible! I have been crying all day, I want to do the right thing.

I understand you wanted to do the right thing. Relax. Making mistakes is part of learning. This is your first semester and you will probably make a few more mistakes. However, now that you have gone through this ordeal, next time you do some kind of injection, you will know what to do and what not to do.
