My first day at work as a new CNA.

I was able to find a job at a skilled nursing facility just 20 miles from where I live. Today, was my first day at work. The DON gave me three days of training. My first day I worked with an older woman. Right from the start her, and another girl told me that If I dont want to help them, then they are not going to help me. And I better not complain to the nurse! I thought ok...well that was kinda rude. Couldnt they have rephrased that in a nicer way! The one who I was assigned to was annoyed that she was stuck training me all day. But as the day went on by I ended up learning alot from her. Then her attitude decreased too. I have to say she is pretty d*mn good at her job. Most of the residents were coherent, and alert. Only one was a full transfer, and the other two you had to use a hoyer lift. Since I have work experience as a caregiver it wasnt too bad. The hard thing is learning EVERYONE'S routine, and the fast pace, because you're getting everyone up for breakfast. Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience.

First off, congrats on your new job and first day! Your co-workers seem a little intimidated but I guess thats the norm in most places these days. Maybe the were secretly impress by your work efforts, lol. Any way good luck and you will probably have your own routine down in no time. Keep us updated!!
