I had that same exact experience! They were almost nasty to me at the beginning. Some have started to come around and the other folks that work nights are usually much easier going. I went home feeling like a total failure for probably the first month straight. But I didn't quit and I'm not going to.
Tonight I took an extra shift because they were short and I will have an orientee with me. This is the first time I've had a new kid with me and I'm excited about that! She's not a brandy new CNA like I was, just new to the company and nights. In all my other jobs, I've been a supervisor and staff trainer, so I know how I like to teach and prioritize. My 'orientation' at this place was pretty poor, so I'm hoping I can improve on that somewhat. Like for starters, introducing the new kid to the nurse! I had to go asking mid shift on my first day who the nurse was and the other staff.
You're right, it DOES get better! And I'm glad you're sticking it out. Your residents will love you for it.

Its an ltc. Its one of the best ltcs but my coworkers are going out of their way to make me hate every second. Nope, not going to happen. I'm not a quitter, I adore most of my residents, I love the company, we take excellent care of our residents, and I'm only afraid of god. One by one my coworkers are being one over, bit by bit challenge by challenge. I'm posting this so other new graduates like me can learn from my exp. Almost everyone I work with has been there three years plus. Only one other new graduate and their doing that to her as well. The pays great, the insurance is perfect, the scheduling easy, and the bosses willing to bend over backward to help any employee in need. To keep me smiling while I work I think of us all as the Sopranos and other dysfunctional families. In 3 months I'm going to be posting about my raise and new work friends. New cnas do not quit!
