I've been an LPN for almost a year now and I'm 2 semesters away from being an RN and my dream is to become an OR nurse. I've heard so many people so it's hard to get into it and its rough in the operating room and that the doctors are mean because it's there world in the OR and everything has to be perfect and blah blah blah. I believe the place I work has an internship for the operating room. How hard is it really to get into the operating room. I've also thought about becoming a surgical first assistant....the operating room fasciates me so much! I need some suggestions and comments please....

heaverboo, and others who may be thinking of standing too long bothering them.
don't let the occasional and sometimes prolonged standing affect your decision.
i have had a auto spinal fusion of l4-s1 (no hardware) and later had a fusion of l3,l4 (hardware) as my back slowly degenerates. i just had a lesi (lumbar epidural steroid injection) because i am starting to loose l2,l3. i know that within time i will have to have that fused with a revision of at least l3,4.
ironically enough i do spine cases on thursdays and fridays. i either scrub or first assist so i am on my feet most all the day. i work 10 hr shifts.
the point isn’t about me. it is about the love of the job. you either love the or or you don’t. as you can tell, i love it!!!!!!!!!!
