My chances at NYU Langone

Published

Hello guys,

I'm a student nurse from NYU graduating this May. I want to work at NYU Langone after I get my license, but unfortunately they only accept new grads with GPA above 3.5. My GPA is a little below 3.5 (it has an increasing trend though. Like my last semester's GPA was around 3.9) so I'm worried that they will just throw out my application when they see that I didn't meet GPA requirement. Is there anyone who got a job (or got a call for interview) at NYU Langone with GPA lower than 3.5?

I have no advice... just wanted to say congrats! I graduated in December from NYU!

I just graduated in January with a 3.49 GPA unfortunately, and I also did my senior preceptorship at NYU, and received a very good evaluation from my preceptor who encouraged me to apply there, which I did, I even spoke to the nurse recruiter in person before I graduated upon recommendation from my preceptor, but the nurse recruiter just told me to apply once I graduated. Now that I did graduate, I emailed the recruiter directly, since I got her email when I spoke to her in person, however she never even replied back to me.

Either way, I'd still advise you to apply anyway if you are really close to the required 3.5 GPA. But apply to other places as well. Bear in mind that the NYU application will specifically ask you if you have a 3.5 GPA, so maybe your application will get filtered out. I think if you don't have the required GPA, the best chances you have is getting your experience elsewhere and then apply to NYU after you gain a few years of experience, since it's really competitive there. But Keep your hopes up. Good luck!!
