Must Know For NCLEX!

Published

hey everyone...

what is the bottom line info you guys think we need to know for nclex? like which meds do you think are most important? labs? diseases? i'm trying to compose a list of definitely know this this and that by memory before the test date. any ideas?

thanks :)

Instead of focusing on specific meds, try studying the drug endings and their indications. Basic lab values like wbc, rbc, plt, bun, cr, etc. Definitely know endocrine but all body systems should be reviewed. I did kaplan and their questions but in terms of content, I used saunders.

I would go with the core content of any of the NCLEX study resources. Many people use Saunders, so that is a good place to start.

I don't think you can make a "must know" list for this test. It's different for everyone. My friends and I all had between 75-84 questions. I had zero lab related questions, maybe 3 pharm questions, and a ton of priority/SATA. One friend had a ton of pharm, and the other had a ton of labs and med calcs. It's the luck of the draw, unfortunately.

thanks everyone :)

Hi BlessedOne,

I'd recommend looking at my post "long time lurker...first time poster." Most specifically the prayers that I included. The vast majority of my test included questions that I knew...and trust me, I did NOT review everything. I believe in those prayers 100%.

All the best!

Chose ONE source, I suggest suanders, do all the cd and stick with it. I did both, kaplan did not help me cuz i was already strong in priority pts and its big on that. saunders cd and book is the way to go...you will learn AND practice at same time. I passed first time with seventy five questions. do questions only, do not study content unless you are really rusty on something, like stages of labor etc. know the big labs, know dehydration, cushings, addisons, sterile procedure, INFECTION CONTROL!!!!, major drug classes and how they work....know insulin, dont focus much on peds or ob, just a few questions on that. know "who does nurse see first!!!!" thats a biggie...good luck
