Help! I need to post on a discussion board regarding the following:

Describe your interaction with an RN related to musculoskeletal complications, procedures or a patient care story. What was their application of the Nursing Process?

I'd really appreciate your stories, thanks!

Think elderly people. They generally have osteoporosis and osteoarthritis (and often rheumatoid arthritis.) A lot of elderly people also have gout. They generally arrive in the acute care setting for something unrelated to their muculoskeletal alterations, yet these conditions require certain care from the nurse in order to treat them - both medically and with nursing interventions, for example to provide comfort.

Mind you, recently, on clinical, we had an elderly lady with dementia admitted to the colorectial-surgical ward with low Hb and anemia. Whilst she was in hospital it was discovered that she had a fractured humerus and a sublux at her should joint. She'd come from a nursing home where she'd had a fall on the Monday. This was a Friday. It was very interesting.
