Multidiscliplinary Studies and Nursing

Is a multiple disciplinary degree with emphasis in health and exercise and a minor in Spanish have weight in the nursing feild? I go to a Big school and I plan to get this degree then get a AS in nursing. Would this be a wise decision?

If your goal is to become an RN, I don't see any advantage in the course of study have described. Coursework, in addition to your required pre-requisites would not give you any preferential treatment for nursing school. It may actually be harmful if it has a negative impact on your overall GPA. It would probably be wiser to simply focus on your nursing pre-requisites and get top-notch grades.

Basic nursing education (diploma, ADN or BSN) results in a novice nurse because at this point, licensure is based on novice clinical competency, not any additional knowledge base. So I doubt whether the additional education would help land your first nursing job either.

The "marketable" degree in nursing is a BSN -- not an ADN with a degree in another field. If you want to move up the nursing career ladder and be eligible for a wide variety of nursing jobs, you'll need a BSN or higher.

So if it's a nursing career you want -- head towards nursing -- not some other degree.
