Much room to negotiate?

Published

I'm planning to do my first assignment this October or November in Jacksonville, FL. I was wondering how much negotiating will I be able to do with a RN travel co. Wanting to upgrade to a 2 bedroom. Also a friend said I should get at least $1000 to $2000 bonus for travel expenses, but so far I've heard of only a $500 bonus. What are other good things to try to negotiate?

Thanks!

Everything is on the table. Much depends on the agency and your relationship with your recruiter. In fact, that relationship will most likely determine your happiness with your assignment for all reasons.

Just from your short post, I can see something else you should negotiate that should be easy. Ask to roll that completion bonus into your hourly rate (about a buck an hour). If your assignment fails to complete for any reason, you've lost out completely. If that same amount is in your hourly, it is now prorated.

Your agency should tell you all your compensation details. If you take the housing stipend, you can of course choose any housing.
