I'm a first year nursing student and I'm doing my first case study for OB/GYN. I need to write up a simple teaching plan for the client and her husband concerinig the activities to be included in the assessment process. It's the client's intial prenantal visit. Help is desperately needed these care plans and teaching plans scare the beans out of me. I work in an emergency department so sometimes it's hard for me to get my head around this stuff. Not to mention I'm a visual person who needs to see examples or I just don't get it. If anyone has some suggestions or help they could offer I would greatly appreciate it.

since this is prenatal there is so much that you can pick to teach. you can put it under deficient knowledge (specify) i would think. the "specify" subject can be a condition, prognosis, treatment, self-care, or discharge needs. check out these patient/consumer teaching subjects in ob on this website to get some ideas:
you can also do web searches for ob hospitals that have consumer articles on the internet that you can view. there is a lot out there for pregnancy so you should be able to find lots of ideas. one thing that came to my mind was talking about a hospital bag and/or making a check list of things to do when she goes into labor and needs to go to the hospital (i'm a big list maker so i don't forget to do something).
there is a sticky thread in the student forums on how to write care plans:
