Long story short- I wanna know how much an LPN makes a month. Especially if you work in LTC! I appreciate all answers!!
and if you're new, that's even better!
Depends on location and specialty and years of experience, I'd say.
I just landed a great second job so bear with me. I'm in S.Texas. I'm a year old nurse with a healthcare background.
Job 1: LTC Psych. $20/hour (32 hour weekends 'Baylor')
Job 2: Urgent care clinic. $16/hour (40 hour weeks). I was expecting it to be way lower b/c it's hospital affiliated. The hospitals don't pay lvn's squat.
Anyway, my combined take-home pay will be $3400-3910/month, depending on how much I throw into my 401K. I'm a vet; my health insurance is $40/month. I go to the VA for most of my preventative needs.
Also, bear in mind that I'm working 7 days a week. My LTC take-home is about $1200-1240 a check. It's usually very easy to earn more in LTC, though. Anyway, our OT is $30.0/hour. People are always calling off and taking personal days and everyone isn't clamoring for it. It's not what you think. You really don't have to fight anyone for PRNs. Everyone's normally screening calls and running out of the facility before the ADON can spot them.
UNLESS... you've got a bunch of GN/GVNs competing with the PRN nurses for hours?
It's a Perfect Storm! LOL
That happened at the facility where I work. We had 4 PRN GVNs, 2 PRN nurses and NO FT positions (I snatched the last one)...and, of course, the scheduling was always screwed up so someone was forever getting shafted.

I've bn an lpn for a year in ohio. Last year i made abt $27000/a year and i looks like i might be breaking even again by the end of the year. Not a lot w a family of 5. I can say im doing a lot better than before I vgot into nursing, but i encountered a lot of backbiting.
