I will be sharing my overall HESI A2 Exam Experience from Mt.San Antonio College, Walnut, California.
Before you can even take the HESI A2 Exam at Mt.SAC I would highly recommend taking all your prerequisites first because the topics on the HESI may entail what you have learned.
At Mt.SAC you can take the HESI again ONLY if you fall below the 71% pass rate. If you pass with anything higher that score is your permanent score.
The way I studied for my HESI is by purchasing review book on Amazon A2 Hesi 2015. It has many different topics in the book that I didn't need because Mt.SAC only tests on the following:
English/Grammer
Basic Math
Anatomy and Physiology(fairly basic)
Reading
Vocabulary
The book was helpful but the questions are not really like the actual test. But it is still good practice.
I struggle in Math so I was very much focused on that area. I did practice questions about 2 weeks before and because I procrastinated I went to a math tutor the day before my test to see if i could learn anything that would help. Surprisingly I did. She gave me tips on how not to make simple errors or how to decode word problems. On the HESI exam, the math I remember entailed percentages, ratios, proportions, basic multipication and division with decimals and simple stuff like that.
the Anatomy and Physiology was very basic like what is the long bone that makes up your arm called? -Humerus. etc. Or know the difference between different parts of the bone like Diaphysis or Epiphysis.
the reading was your basic reading comprehension test...What is the story trying to tell you. If you are a long test taker I would suggest doing this first it requires a lot of reading.
The vocab...is more like understanding word or using it in the right context.
Grammer has to do with correcting a sentence.
It is super important to try to do your best on this exam because it gives you a large portion of your points for your application.
Don't freak out if you didn't give yourself enough time to study. Just focus on your weaknesses and practice.
GOOD LUCK AND STUDY HARD!

I am scheduled to take the HESI in august and I was wondering if you had any tips on the anatomy and physiology portion of the test. Also if you have taken the TEAS as well, would you say it's much different ?
Thanks in advance !

Hey Everyone,
Im taking the HESI A2 at Mt San Antonio college California in about 3 weeks august 15th. Im studying about 3 hrs during the week and weekends all day with breaks in between. IM concerned for the math portion. I asked some coworkers in the hospital I work and then say its easy, some barely studied and got 90's. They said to focus on proportions, ratios, and fractions. I started to review the elsevier admission assessment 4 th edition and it seems basic stuff. In comparison to Trivium HESI A2 prep, math is more in depth as in word problems that they don't give examples on. In regards to word problems, how complex are they. I feel math is my weakest and worried about the unit conversions( Metric, standard etc.)
For anatomy and physic is semi fresh within a year of taking them. Majority of the practice exams I've been getting 20/25, 23/25, 25/25 and thats without even reviewing.
Grammar: I brushed up on it and refreshing.
Vocab: worried because I here study only the vocab on the book, but then theres a crap load of other words on other exams that i never seen for example the McGraw exams.
Reading: haven't gone to much in depth with this topic, but seems heavy.
Like I said, I am mainly worried about math, but if someone can fill me in on the topics it would help. Please and thank you.
