Hello Everybody,
I'm a RN with a BSN wishing to move on to the Masters level. I would like to just go staright for an MBA but fear that will lead me to a dead end should I wish to pursue a DNP or post-masters FNP certificate. I know there are dual MSN/MBA programs out there but they take twice as much time as an MSN or MBA lone.
Does anyone know if I went just the MBA route could I still get inot a DNP program or FNP program down the road without having to start all over? Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by "dead end" relative to FNP or DNP.
If you mean course equivalency, there really is none between the MBA and MSN or DNP. So in that sense, with a BSN and MBA, you would essentially have to "start all over" and likely would be required to take every course in the curriculum. The MBA should not a barrier of any sort for either the MSN or DNP and in fact, I suspect that it makes you a bit more attractive as a candidate.
Not sure why you would want to pursue the business end of nursing by getting an MBA, then turn around and pursue the practice end with a FNP though. Seems like you would have wasted considerable time and energy on a degree only to turn around and shelve it. The MBA may make some sense if you intend to get your DNP and teach however.
if you want to move up in administration whether it be in the hospital or any place of employment in the nursing field , which degree would be of better use at this time , a MBA or MSN in administration / education ??? any info will be appreciated folks :)
