MSN or MAN?...

hello...

graduated last march, took the december board exam, passed. now i'm stuck as to what my next step is. @_@

since it is nearing summer, i was thinking of taking up masterals. i have researched about MSN and MAN, and i am confused as to which graduate program i will pursue. MAN has thesis-making, and MSN prepares you in advanced nursing.

question: just which is much easier and more advantageous when one is planning to go abroad???...

i really need helpful advice.

:uhoh3:

hi sis. I suggest you take the MSN. I heard that we don't have any MSN degrees in Philippines. I don't know how true that is.

taking up MAN here in Philippines will not be honored in USA, only MSN is honored.

The Master's program that is offered in the Philippines is the MAN; and only that one.

It is not the same as the MSN and cannot be used for a job that requires the MSN. There are specific additional courses that need to be completed, but that brings up the next issue and that is that most schools will not issue a degree to you if you have only been there for a couple of courses.

The MAN degree will not get you the EB-2 green card if that is what you wish to use it for since it does not meet the requirements of being an MSN.

But without having the required additional courses that the US requires for the Clinical Nurse Specialist or Advanced Practice RN, these programs will not get you the EB-2 visa in most cases.

Most that are going to petition are doing so for the bedside nurse, and that is where it really will not help you.

What a facility wants to see is experience working as an RN. Always easier to get the training once you get to the country where you are going to be working, many employers will be pay for it, or at least part of it.

I would focus on getting experience as the RN, then going on for more schooling afterwards. Things are done very differently in most other countries from your country in the way nursing is practiced in the first place.
