MSN - Ambulatory Care - what can you do with this?

What can you do with a MSN in ambulatory care? Is pay similiar to nurse practitioner pay? I wonder if you can do endoscopy stuff and or work as a nurse practitioner at a beauty clinic?

I know what you mean....you mean like aesthetics or administering botox injections for a spa or salon....etc.....The answer is YES. I have a friend that does it with a BSN and . You also need an MD to partner with. He needs to review your charts and order your botox and restalin (I think that's what it's called). Anyway, I think this is what you are asking...... If it is the answer is YES you can. I'm sure there are alot of other things involved in getting it started. You'll have to check with the nursing board in your state to see what the regulations are. That would be a good start if you are serious about considering it.

Ya thats basically what i mean. However i know that at laser hair removal clinics they have positions for RN's and NP's, not sure what the NP does that makes it limited to them only. I wasnt sure if a MSN permits the RN to do more stuff than a regular BSN, thats what im trying to find out, especially regarding doing colonoscopies.

An MSN is a graduate degree but unless you have a concentration as an advanced practitioner, you will still be practicing as an RN.

Yep. I have an MSN in management and leadership but had to do a post-MSN certificate in a clinical specialty in order to be a mid-level provider.

What can you do with a MSN in management and leadership? Was that even worth getting? It is nice that you can get a post MSN certificate. I would think that a MSN should net you a $70k+ a yr job atleast.

For me, it wasn't worth it. I actually started in a dual MSN/MBA program but quickly realized that (ugh) I hated business. Then, my next great idea was to go into management. Uh...no, not for me. So...for my final brilliant move, I got a post-MSN adult health CNS. However, (duh) the job market is tenuous so I may need to see kids. I start back to school next week to pick up yet another post-MSN CNS - this one in peds.

So....my advice is to totally research what you can do with the degree path you want so that you don't waste time, effort and loads of $$$.

As an advanced practice nurse, I do make considerably more than $70k and I live in central IL which has a very decent cost of living.
