Moving to Seattle - job advice/travel options?

U.S.A. Washington

Hi everyone,

I am moving to Seattle in September with my boyfriend and am wondering how long I should anticipate it to take to find a job at Swedish or UW Medical. I have 2 years experience on a med-card stepdown floor, my BSN and my PCCN. I am also interested in the possibility of doing one 13 week travel assignment when we first arrive and using my spare time to pursue a permanent position at one of the other hospitals.

What advice do you all have?

Thanks!

I'd say travel and let management know you exist. Those two hospitals are associated with the UW nursing program. You may get past the head hunters if management had already seen you at work.

So you'd advice travel even though chances are slim I would be traveling at one of those two hospitals?

I am interested in UW's graduate nursing programs eventually and that is why I want to get into one of those hospitals.

Thanks!

You can always try to apply and see what happens. It's stiff competition though, from what I hear

So far, every place I've applied contacted me within 2 weeks for an interview. I have interviews set up for after I am officially moved in a few weeks. I considered a travel job but wanted a full time if possible. Based on responses so far, I'm not anticipating an issue at all. I'll keep you updated!

2-6 weeks for a permanent position. For local travel assignments consider favorite nurses
