Moving to NC CNA future RN

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Specializes in Pediatrics; senior care.

Hi I am moving to north Carolina in August. I am licensed in DC and VA a CNA. I have Four yrs experience. I have worked Homecare, Pediatrics Med/Surg at Fairfax INOVA and now work in Hospice. I understand that I will need to challenge the CNA test written and skills. I registered and just need to pay and set my testing date.

I am hoping to get into nursing school ..it looks like I have to have a college NC CNA course to be accepted. I found one school so far that days they will possibly accept me once I have NC license ..everyother one wants me to retake the course..what is frustarating me is VAs course that I took is 75 hrs longer!

Any recommendations in Hospitals to work at, I am looking at DUKE, UNC and Randolph Hopsital so far.

Ill probably be posting a lot here the next 3 months.

I am in NC, for my program we were required to be listed on NC's registry and to have completed a state approved CNA class. I think a lot of programs here are like this.

Specializes in Neurology.

Watts School of Nursing RN program does not require the CNA class. Their classes start in January and June. They are a hospital based program working with Duke.

I'm at Watts-rising third semester student. They do not require CNA licence. I can't say enough good things about watts because there just isn't enough hours in the day!
