Moving to MS, worried about salary

Published

Hi all !

I'm planning on moving from PA to MS early next year; the Corinth area to be specific; and after looking around online I'm worried about what my RN salary will be compared to cost of living. Everything I've read shows RNs making between $16-20/hour for under 3 years experience -I made 34/hour my first nursing job out of school.

I understand difference of cost of living, but I'm from farm country PA so it's cheap here - (a 3bed house is only $600 a month). Am I just reading outdated docs or is the cost of living in Corinth, MS less than I'm expecting??

Thank you:inlove:

You can google a cost of living calculator to compare.

It will calculate city and state current comparison costs.

One calculator is- Bankrate.com- cost of living calculator.

I didn't know about those - thank you!!

I live about 60 miles south of Corinth in a small town and the average 3bedroom rent is about $600. Local rural Hospital and Nursing home are playing between 19-22 an hour for 1 to 5 years experienced RN.

I live in north MS... MS Delta area to be more specific... As a new grad 3 years ago I started at a nursing home at 18$/hr... Nursing home was not for me. Found clinic job that paid 17.50/hr wiyh excellent benefits but unfortunately i was laid off later... Now at a different clinic it is $21/hr. I have heard clinics pay very low but that hasnt been my experience. Hospital here for lpns starts 14.75$ plus diffpay etc... Hope this was helpful...
