I am wondering which colleges/universities offer the best nursing programs. At the moment I'm not even a CNA, but I'm one of those types that likes to be a step or two ahead. My sister-in-law is going to Daytona Beach Community College, and she's a smart woman, so I think she picked a good program to attend. Are there other good nursing programs in that area (DeBary, DeLand, Volusia County)???
Also, I am wondering how nurses go about getting certifications? Are they college courses you take, seminars you go to, CEU's? I really can see myself as a jack-of-all-trades type of nurse (hope that didn't sound dumb) with lots of certifications.

Most colleges charge 3-4 times more for non-residents, and you will have to establish Florida residency 12 months before they will charge you the lower Florida resident tuition.
Not sure if that fits into your timetable, but it's something to consider.
You may also want to check out a list of FL nursing pgms:

And their NCLEX pass rates:

Thanks A LOT for giving me the heads up. I tried to tell my brother that I would likely be charged out-of-state tuition rates, but he wouldn't listen :) I guess I'll just get the CNA license, since it's the best step to take IMO (probably required, too) and work for a year as a CNA.
