Moving to Florida - Do I have the right qualification?

:nurse: Hi all,

My husband and I want to move to Florida from England. I am currently in my 2nd year of training, so it's a very long term plan!

From what I have so far learnt, I need a year's post-reg experience, and to pass the NCLEX. It also says I need to be RGN/RN qualified, not RSCN. When (hopefully) I qualify, I won't be an RSCN, but RN(Child) as I have followed the child branch. In our first year we covered Adult/Child/Mental Health and to an extent Maternity.

So, as an RN(Child) will I be able to go through the process or will I need to retrain to RN(Adult)?

Hop this makes sense, I'm confused!

Specializes in NICU, Med/Surg.

I was really nervous about the exact number of hours required but after getting some answers from Suzanne I decided to apply and see what would happend.....

I´m sure it is different for each state, but this is what worked for me and with NY BON.

Medical 110/105

Surgical 121/595

Maternal/Infant 209/350

Children 220/420

Mental health 33/70

Community 66/420

(theory/clinical education)

On my VisaScreen application it says that I meet all requirements (at least for education/school).

When I talked to OGP they required 30 hours of theory and 70 hours of clinical in each area before signing up (I didn´t after reading a lot of information from Suzanne and others).
