Hi everyone,
I plan on moving to Austin next year to join my significant other, and would appreciate some feedback on the local hospitals there. I have my BSN and will have 2+ years of inner-city ER experience by that time.
My current hospital separates regular ER vs. traumas, so I do not have trauma experience - but I'd be willing to train for that. Does anyone have suggestions for which ERs would be a good fit? I am also interested in gaining ICU experience too.
Thank you!

the big trauma ER (level 1) is in downtown Austin (University Medical Center Brackenridge) and is part of the Seton
network. the other big ERs in Austin are North Austin Medical Center (part of St. David's) and St. David's Main has a location in
downtown Austin. Good luck!
Thank you - this is exactly what I was looking for.

St. David's South Austin Medical Center just became a Level II trauma last year and is the busiest St. David's ER. I believe they have around 70-ish beds. One side is a regular ER side and the other is a cardiac/trauma side.
Thanks for the info! Do you know if the cardiac/trauma side requires a minimum amount of ER/ICU experience?
I'm not sure, I'm only doing my clinicals there so I don't really have insight into their hiring process. One of the nurses I was with on the trauma side had been a M/S nurse for a couple of years but has only been working ER for about 6 months.
