Anyone have any experience with this residency program? I am in NM right now but will be visiting Elizabethton in 2 weeks. I wanted to visit JCMC and Sycamore Shoals to see if they will entertain new grads.
I graduate (ADN) in May and my husband is breathing down my neck to move back to TN asap.
It seems like an excellent program. Is it hard to get in to? Pay? Opprotunities?? I would love to hear anything about it!!

I just moved from california to johnson city to work at JCMC, I love it there. all I did was apply for a position and they called, I interviewed and was hired on the spot, and I was a new grad. I would really encourage you to apply it really is a great place to work, well at least on my floor, I have never worked anywhere else but everyone seems to be nice. Also they hire year around new grads they don't have a certain time that they hire new grads, good luck!!!!
That's awesome! I have some questiong..Do you have a BSN or ADN? Are you in the residency program?? Is the pay ok?
I am ADN and the pay is ok but you need to consider the cost of living here is very low too, and all new grads are in the residency program, it is held I think once or twice a month for 8 hours and the rest of the time you are on the floor with your preceptor.

I currently work for MSHA. I have worked for them 2 1/2 years. The pay is terrible, but it always is for new nurses. 18.00 an hour. I have found that they hire just about anybody. They will pay for your school also, but you have to sign an agreement that you will work for them for three years and they tax you on the amount. They payed for my school up front, but payback is a . So for my 20,000 they paid for my education, they dived it by 36 months (three years), and they add it to my paycheck as if they payed me, but I am not payed that amount just taxed on it. By the time you realize that you are grossly underpaid it is too late. With what they are paying me, I cannot afford to break my contract. The security guards there make as much, or more than I do and they aren't even real cops.
