Hello, everyone!
This thread is for all my future classmates for the Montefiore SON 2017 program. I would like to wish everyone applying good luck and if there is any questions regarding the Kaplan I would be more than glad to answer and help. I was accepted to the 2016 program but i deferred my seat to this coming January, anyhow, join in and share your thoughts and tips!....
I would like to know what exactly are the pre reqs for those of you who completed it. I have cleped out of some.
I have spanish for liberal arts
lifespan and development for Psych
and sociology.
i plan to clep english comp next and currently looking at the summer curses at mercy college for A&P and microbiology as well as nutrition.
do I have to take intro to psychology or is lifespan enough?
what did you guys take for math? algebra, intro to algebra, chemestry or what?
Im going to the open house tomorrow 5/19 btw and my plan is to go straight to mercy college for the BSN program while im still in "school" mode. Im an LPN and i put it off for way to long
Hello,
I am a recent grad from the program. I hope the following info helps you out.
The pre reques that need to be taken is absolutely Chemistry. You can not enter without that. The following is what you will need to take prior or during the 2 school years. I advise getting as much done before entering the program because it can get tough.
A&P I and II
Microbiology
Psychology
Human Growth and Development
Sociology
Nutrition
English I and II
No math is required but I would take stats to get it out the way because you will need it for most BSN programs. I believe that is it but the open house will be on 5/19/16 at 1pm and 6pm. I will be at the 6pm session if you have any questions.

Congratulation! Well worth it.!!! I have a question about fundamental book do you know if they will be updating its version? I currently have the 7th edition.
Yeimidelarosa you do need general psychology and Math I believe beginning algebra is enough but I also have statistics ! The bachelors program from mercy will only apply to those that have no college credit, that is coming straight off high school. As an LPN I believe u can bump off. Semester if u pass a test they provide and that's is for Cochran school of nursing
Hello, clik on the link its from the Montefiore school of Nursing website with school requirements How to Apply - School of Nursing and this one is for the evening program School of Nursing Evening/Saturday Option
thank you for your answers...I will be there tomorrow at the 6pm session.
and im interested in the evening program since i work 3 12hrs night shift. it will be hard for me to work nights and go to class or work days if im in the day program...evening works for me.
I did call Mercy and they told me that the Dual program to do LPN-BSN is for people who have zero credits because you have to do all the pre reqs with them and then is you have a 2.7 or greater they will recommend you to montefiore. Anyways im still going to do the bsn. I plan on taking NCLEX and immediately enroll in the bsn program. maybe even masters. I believe they offer that bridge from bsn to masters...my ultimate goal is to teach. I was already teaching CNA classes and I love it so it would be nice to one day get off the floor if need be, and teach.
so human growth doesnt count towards psych? darn!
I have human growth(not life span)
i have sociology
great so I need chemistry, algebra and eventually stat--argh overwhelmed already.
Ok so i know i must have most of these completed byJanuary(no pressure lol) but will they invite me for the entrance exam even if i dont have all the pre-reqs but have everything else?
thank you for answering guys, i know thats what the open house is for but is so much comforting to get answers from some one who has already done it
so i just downloaded the 2016 nursing handbook and read this:
 A minimum CLEP grade of 50 on the College Composition, Introductory Sociology,
Introductory Psychology and/or Human Growth and Development exams. Credit for
English Comp II is awarded if College Composition grade is 65 or higher.
so it looks like my human growth and dev will be ok for now as a psych credit since it says "and/or"
im currently studying to clep english comp so ill do my best to get higher than 65 because it also covers english comp I and II if you score higher than 65.
