Hello everyone! I applied for Monroe College's Accelerated program for the Winter 2023 cohort. I was wondering if anyone heard back or if you're a current students could describe your experiences in the program. I received an 85 on the TEAS scores, accumulatively 3.8 GPA and 3.3 on the prerequisites. Thank you and best of luck to you all!

Anyone please share their experience in the ABSN program? Do you recommend?

First semester you need to do the pre-reqs so basically you won't start the program the first semester. Also, the program has been extended to 4 semesters of nursing courses instead of 3. In total 5 semester that you need to do. Lastly, be ready to clear your schedule from Monday to Friday from 8-5 for the nursing classes. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for the info @nelly1025

Hi everyone, I was hoping to find more info about Monroe's ABSN program through past threads. I wanted to know things like how big was your cohort size? how are the professors ? where did you guys do clinicals ?

Can you guys share your expert here so far as students?? I'm pretty much accepted I did well on my TEAS and have been communicating daily with my admissions rep. My concern is the bad reviews I've been seeing online about this specific nursing program. They said they don't even have real clinicals or enough and the program is self taught.

Hey I was looking to start this Winter, are all classes in person? its not hybrid ? Also do you have an example of what your schedule looked like,  I know some ABSN programs only require you to go in 2-3 days a week.

I heard that the first semester of nursing classes was online and second was in person then third and fourth are hybrid ? Is this not the case ? Was hoping not having to do a daily commute for an extended amount of time.

Yes, I completed the program this August 24.

The classes taken during first semester depends on the pre-requisites you've taken/not taken. I had to take 6 online classes;

Advanced writing social sciences

Intro to Health Care

Intro to Health Informatics

Fundamentals of Communication

Race, Ethnicity and Health

Intro to Global Health issues

Oh wow ! Congratulations on your success, woohoo.

That's good to know, thank you so much for replying quickly , you've been so helpful and reassuring.

One more question for you , how was taking the TEAS for you ? I just took mine and in all honesty I am not sure if I met the required score for the English part of it, I struggle with grammar and I was hoping that was not a requirement that they take very seriously .

For TEAS I got 75. I had friends in the cohort who got higher or lower. I think it mostly depends on how early you apply and if they already enrolled enough students or not - I think. As long as you pass the TEAS, I don't think it matters what you got in a specific subject. Try contacting the admission office via email or call for reassurance/advice.

I hope you're all doing well. I am interested in the accelerated nursing program and would love more details. Specifically, I would like to know the total length of the program, including the time required to complete all prerequisites and the full tuition cost. Additionally, I'd appreciate any insights on how challenging the courses are.

I have a five-year-old child, and I am concerned about managing coursework and homework while balancing my responsibilities as a parent. I previously earned my bachelor's degree in hospitality from Monroe and am now considering transitioning into nursing. Since I will be relocating from Canada to New York for this program, I want to make an informed decision.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could share their experience or provide guidance. You can reach me at [email protected]. Thank you so much for your time, and God bless.
