Mom of 2 working full-time How can I attend Nursing school?!

Published

Hi all,

I will be 33 very soon, I'm at the point in my life for a career change I'm currently a Certified Alcohol and Substance abuse counselor (CASAC). I would love to keep my current credential as it serves as a plus for case management nursing or psychiatric nursing. My problem is managing nursing school with two children 1 and 7 years old and a full-time job in addition to a hefty commute each day. What can I do to achieve my career goal? I have a significant other who works 2 jobs but he cannot carry the bills solely, so not working is not an option. Can anyone identify with me? If so what worked for you? Is this even possible? Help!

That's great I'm loving all of this feedback from you moms who are sacrificing and making it happen to better you and your children lives thank you so much you all just boosted my confidence and drive to the max! Blessings to you!

Thank you for your insight Heathermaizey my daughter is in daycare and my SO works day and night jobs.I would look into LPN as well right now I'm in the research phase of putting my plan together so I really appreciate all the suggestions!

I'm in the weeds...I, too, am a mom, FT student, and at present working six twelve-hour shifts per week. I work, shower, sleep, eat, say hello to my kids and study. I am having a hard time doing anything else. I feel like a zombie. There are literally whole days when I miss seeing my teens because they don't arrive home from practices before I leave for the night shift. Any practical advice for me? Or have I once again bitten off more than I can chew, ha ha.
