For all you L&D nurses, who encourage mom to infant, skin to skin contact (especially during the first 1-2hrs after delivery);have you noticed a correlation with mom to infant skin to skin contact and breastfeeding success?

of course. the two go hand-in-hand. this is not news; it's been discussed in breastfeeding seminars and forums and in books for YEARS. It DOES work. Oh and before I forget, WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!!!!!!!

Yep and ditto....

The biggest thing I have noticed about skin to skin contact right after delivery is that it does seem to hasten and enhance bonding...which is why we see breastfeeding success. I love watching the faces of new parents when they have skin to skin contact with their babies. It is beautiful!
