Mock Drills

I have been charged with coming up with an educational program for my unit that includes mock drills for shoulder dystocia, PP hemorrhage, stat C/S, infant resucitation and infant abduction. Does anyone have any curriculae or protocols for these kinds of drills that they would be willing to share?

I would appreciate any help I can get.

We have an excellent clinical educator at our hospital. For drills of this nature she will first inform the staff ahead of time that she will be having a drill of some kind and maybe give us an idea of what we will be facing(maybe not). And at some point during the day she will just push the call light from a room and notify the secretary that we were having a shoulder dystocia(or whatever) in room ___. Once everyone comes running, as they walk in she quickly states the situation and everyone just kind of pretends. Its a little silly, but it helps. Sometimes she will intentionally leave the room not prepared, ex. no stool to perfrom suprapubic pressure, no table set up, etc.

Funny story: One time she told us we would be having a drill for a fire in the OR. Before she started the drill she called the hospital secretary and notified her that we would be having a drill and not to notify the whole hospital. Well of course, when she called the drill the secretary called it out over the hospital PA system, and not as a drill!!! people from the whole hospital came running to our OR, the fire dept was called. It was hilarious. It was definetly an effective drill and a relief to know we would get help QUICK!
