Hi, has anyone taken the MN:NP program at Athabasca? I’ve noticed a few threads on this topic but they are all very old. Is there any one who is in this program currently? I’m interested in this program because I am unable to move to a different city or do full time studies. I need to work full time while completing the program. I am nervous about finding my own preceptor first the clinics. Does anyone have any experience where they were unable to find a preceptor? Was Athabasca understanding or helpful? I’m also confused about this line in their website “ The program does not, however, prepare NPs to work in acute care settings or to focus on a clinical specialty.” What does this mean? Lastly, I’m just wondering if any one has had any issues with employers because their degree is from Athabasca?Any insight or advise would be greatly appreciated!

I know a NP who did their course with Athabasca and works with no issues on where they trained as a NP and has worked both for the health authorities and government

Thank you so much for moving me to the right thread. I’m still new at posting! And that is very encouraging!

Hi Joy Joyy,
I am planning to join Athabasca program and I am confused too. Did you find anyone who completed NP program from Athabasca? Have you started your application?
