Hey everyone! I just posted this elsewhere on the forum but wanted to see what you all have to say.... I just got my RN license about a month ago, but there are no RN jobs available right now in my area so I am continuing to work as an LPN and wait for something to open..... I just got a reminder in the mail to renew my LPN license, and my question is : In MN, do I have to renew the LPN or can I just go under the RN license, and 2. How do CEU's work then if I have two separate licenses? This whole renewal thing is starting to confuse me.. would I lose my RN license if I renewed my LPN? Ugh.... Any comments anyone has would be greatly appreciated! :)

I would think you could go under your RN license, but to get the best (and most accurate) answer, you should call the MN board of nursing. They will be able to tell you for sure.

The CEU's - I think you need 28 for every 2 years?? Most facilities offer classes that will count towards your CEU's. Plus at most places you get paid to go also! After you pass the boards and get your RN license in the mail, they will send some information that is more thorough than what I just gave you regarding CEUs.

:o I needing info on obtaining attorney to recertify license after suspension, although had 1 only part of disciplinary hearing, ran out of $ know I was treated unfairly and not properly informed such as hprp.I just want licences back but have no trust that mbon is in my best interest.I was fined 4,000.00.And all stipulations require me to pay such as nurse educator to do 1on 1 refresher coorifice of 40hrs which is an addl.125-150. an hr.This banrupted me thru the disciplinary process so attorney wouldnt finish,I walked in alone not understanding any of their attorneys legalities. And who will ever hire me again?HELP.Alyinajo

Congratulations Happylush!!!!!!!!

I'm proud of you!!!

I thought it was 24 hours every 2 years?

I think the BON would be your best bet to ask your questions to. Best to get it straight from the horse.

Hi Aylinajo, The mnbon is most interested in protecting the public, and will not be of much help on your behalf. I wondered when I read your post, do you belong to a union? As a member of the MN nurses assn. I can usually get some help with legal Qs and advocacy when needed. Good luck.

PRO RN,Thanks for responding. No, I do not belong to a union.I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM COMPLYING WITH BON,only thing Im having difficulty in is finding an R.N. whos willing to do 1on1 skill refreshing of 40hrs.It sounds easy but Ive had alot of doors slammed in face and shot down with no advice or alternatives. So much Ive thought about a career change but this is what comes natural to me and Im good at it.Charting was my weak point unfortunately.Your the 1st person thats responded and given me a shed of light. The expense is my burden,I always assumed bon was our advocate. When I ? whos there protecting us Ive gotten no response.I would appreciate your in put.

Pro RN:changed from Aylinajo to citysangel Im also from MN.Where abouts in MN do you live IF I MAY ASK?
