MANE Student

I am starting a MANE program this August. I need to submit the results of my tuberculosis test by July 15th. My school will only accept the results of a QFT or two step Mantoux. My provider ordered a QFT and I had my blood drawn at the end of May. I submitted my lab results to the school which were negative. I found out Monday that my school rejected my results because the test was not QFT, but T-Spot instead. It turns out that my health care organization does not do QFT anymore and only do T-Spot for TB blood testing. I had my first part of the Mantoux done this morning and will do my second one in a week. As a result, I will not have my results submitted by the 15th. I called and emailed my adviser at school but I have not heard anything. Is anyone else having this issue?

You are supposed to have a a Mantoux test read 48-72 hours after the injection. So if you had that done Thursday morning, it needs to be looked at by Sunday morning. And you would have your results in plenty of time before the 15th.

If you wait a week for that second part they might not consider it valid anymore and then you'd have to start all over again. But still should only take 3 days tops.

I got the first Mantoux yesterday and then you have to get a second one a week out so that doesn't really help. This is why I opted to have my blood drawn at the end of May. My PCP left the organization on June 1st, so I'm going to spend today looking for a new provider, hope to get in and have them write me an order for QFT. Last night when I got home from work, I looked up Quest Diagnostics website and they still perform QFTs as long as you have an order. So now, to the order!

Gotcha, mis-read the two step part. Makes sense. Hope administration lets it slide!

One more week to go
