Arghhh....Where do I begin? I started a 5-week Micro class two weeks ago and since then we have covered about 9-10 chapters. I have class Mon and Wed from 6-10 and Micro Lab on Thurs 6-10. Right now I am about 3 chapters behind, I have an assignment due tomorrow night, in addition to a quiz and I have a midterm (already) on Wed night. Thurs night I have multiple lab assignments due, including papers and charts that I have to draw up. I have no idea what the heck is going on in lab, as last week we did five labs in one class! I'm also supposed to keep a lab book which gets graded at the end of the semester and I haven't even started that! Within the next couple of weeks I have to read 4 Micro articles, summarize them, and pass them in at the end of the semester. Needless to say I am bogged down with work and to top it all off I work full-time and have no ambition to do any of it!!!
My professor warned the class from Day 1 that it was a lot of work and if were weren't willing to put the time and effort into it we shouldn't be there.
Today is one of the few days that I should be able to study with the exception that I have two (yes TWO!!!), wedding showers to attend at 11 A.M. I'm so tempted not to show up to either of them so I can get some studying done, but I know I'll regret not going and it will be a distraction when I am trying to study. Anyways I set my alarm clock to wake up early to get some studying done but hit the snooze button numerous time. When I finally did get up, I made some coffee, rushed into the living room to open up the Micro book, and spilled coffee all over my microsuede couch!!! Needless to say studying is put off again as I had to search on the internet how to get coffee out of my couch...which is how I ended up here.
I guess after all this I'm trying to say that I am so incredibly stressed out! I feel like I'm always rushing to get things done, but nothing ever actually gets done! I wake up early for work, but I'm always running out the door last minute. If I'm late for work in the morning, I'm forced to leave work late in the afternoon, and I risk being late for my class and that is a big No, No in my professor's eyes!!! Additionally, my house looks like a bomb hit it!
I don't see how I'm gonna do this in September when I'm doing Med-Surg three days a week from 3-10. I'm gonna have to leave work early three days a week (without pay, which I really can't afford) and most likely be more stressed than I am now!
I'm just wondering is anyone else in a similar situation and if so how do you handle it? When do you find the ambition and time to study? I just don't have any! I don't know how those of you who have children and work full-time, or even part-time find time to put any effort into classes. Where do you find the energy??? I guess I just need some words of wisdom on how to get through this crazy time in my life. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry this is so long...I really needed to vent!!!

I think u need to make a list of the things you have to do, choose one day when you are not so busy(maybe on the weekend) and then try to do most of what you have on your list.
As busy as you are if I were you I wouldn't bother to attend those wedding party's, you have to put your priorities first, your friends and family will understand. As for your house when you get a chance clean and organize in a way that it's easy for you to access what you need, what I usually do before school starts I clean up get rid of stuff I don't need/unnecessary clutter.
Try your best to make sure everything is packed the night before so you don't have to spend time looking for them in the morning.
Hope that helps,
Good luck

put your priorities first but give yourself a little you time so that you don't go insane
Hi Sayitaintso....You are so right, I will definitely make a list of what I need to do and make sure I put a dent in it this weekend. Currently, I am about 10 chapters behind and have numerous assignments to complete in my Micro class and Lab. Believe me when I say this class involves a lot of work! I can breathe a sigh of relief now that I just took my Micro midterm tonight. I think I did alright on it. I actually plan on cleaning the house when this class ends in about two weeks. I figure I'll have about a month to do so before my second year of the LPN program starts. So much for getting a jump start on the Med-Surg reading!
Hi Kristinafaith...You're both so right about putting my priorities first. For the next two weeks I think I'm gonna put my life on hold and study like crazy....I must do well in this class! As for the insane thing, it's a little too late for that...my life has been nothing but insanity since starting this nursing program! Between work, my commute to and from work, classes, family issues, relationship issues, and everything else that life has thrown at me this year I'm surprised I'm not yet in an insane asylum!
Thanks so much for your responses!
Another thing as the previous poster said, please get some rest try to get a good night sleep before you start on your list, this way you'll be energized and ready to go.
Unfortunately getting a good night sleep is easier said than done right now....I so look forward to finishing this class and being on "vacation" for a month! The down side is I'll still have to work though.
Thanks for your advice!
I should have titled this "Microbiology Crammed into 5 Weeks!".... Anyways I've made it through four weeks....Just had my Micro Lab final exam tonight. I'm hoping I got at least a B, but I'm kicking myself because I always tend to second guess myself and change a right answer the the wrong one! I did that a couple of times tonight...Ugghh....I so hate that!!!! I also left a couple of them blank, because for the life of me I couldn't think of one intelligent answer to put down!
I have my Micro Lecture exam on Monday night. Currently I am about 10 chapters behind, I have to write four summaries on different Micro articles in addition to a 3 page paper on something Micro related. To make matters worse I still have to study for the final exam and it's all due in a matter of days, with my only day off being Sunday! I keep telling myself that I made it this far so I can't give up now....It was only about two weeks ago that I was seriously contemplating dropping out of the class before failing it. I'm just gonna have to keep my nose to the grindstone after work for the next few days and go for that A that I know I am capable of achieving!
Yay....Just found out I got an A in Micro and an A in Micro Lab!!!! So psyched!!!

Congrats! I applaud you for getting an A in that class! I just got done with an 8 week Micro course and that was hard enough, I can't imagine doing a 5 week course! I only got a B in that class too. Again, congrats! You deserve a nice relaxing day at the spa or something! LOL
Hi Briterz,
Thank you and congrats to you too! A B in Micro is no small feat either!!! That's one tough class, especially crammed into so little time! Keep up the good work! I hear you about the nice relaxing day at the spa....I should take advantage of the little free time I have before school starts up again in September!
