Microbiology EduKan

Published

Hi everyone,

I am on the waiting list for Microbiology through EduKan for the summer with Dr. Simmons.

Has anyone had any experience w/ this course?

Lana, didn't you take this with him?

I have taken quite a few courses through EduKan so I know what to expect, I just wonder how the in person labs worked out.

I am hoping to be able to do the labs locally.

Thanks for anyone's input.

Yes, I took it this past fall. I did the labs in person since it was only twice in the semester, but it was kind of annoying to drive. TCC transferred the credit without any problem. But FYI, they didn't transfer so kindly my A&P classes. Don't know if you took those with them, but TCC accepted my A&P1 and A&P2 classes as Anatomy but not physiology. Then, they wanted me to still take bio for majors before they would let me take physiology. After pointing out to them that I had 29 hours of science classes and if I took bio for majors and physiology I would have more science hours than a science major they decided to waive the biology but not physio.

But back to the question about micro...I liked the class and learned a lot but it was a challenge. The home lab software was a little confusing but it got easier. Came out with an A though so it was worth it!

I signed up to take it in the fall. Im a little concerned about the "cooperating lab" requirement. Was that really difficult to organize?
