Microbiology and A&P 2?

Published

Hello all,

next week I will be registering for my last quarter of pre-reqs before I apply for nursing school. I am currently working full time as a medical assistant and I am a full time student. 2 programs that I am applying for will accept my MA license and allow me to take microbiology while in the nursing program. However, I am torn between taking it next quarter with A&P 2 so that I can get it completed and also have it for any other programs I might want to apply to. I don't want to overload myself but I wanted to get some insight from people that have taken these courses together?.

I took those courses together while working full time. Also, I was taking statistics and sociology. It was really interesting when the two classes started to go over some of the same things and I was able to draw from the other class I was taking when studying. It made for a very tough semester but also very rewarding. Just as a side note I made A's in both classes so it's definitely doable. You'll be fine as long as you stay on top of your studying and dedicate time every day for it.

I'm taking them together right now, with two other classes. I'm not having an issue, but I don't work (though I do homeschool my kids).

I took A&P I and microbiology while working part time. It wasn't too bad. However, microbiology is apparently my kryptonite and I ended up getting a C in that class. If you pay attention and follow your teacher's step-by-step instructions on doing everything, you should be fine. What really tripped me up was the amount of content that we covered and the exams being mostly extended response and fill in the blanks.

I'm currently taking Mico, A&P I, and Chem this semester while working 25 hrs/wk at a hospital and training full-time as a competitive runner 2-4 hrs/day, 60+ miles a week (might be recruited to a pro running club after I graduate and seeing what happens :nailbiting:). Anyway, I've had 5 exams so far and gotten an A on every one of them, as well as As on all of my lab resports and other assignments. You'll be fine! Honestly it's all about having good time management. As well as truly enjoying what you're learning about/studying. ;)
