Hello,

I'm currently working on a med/surg-oncology unit in East Michigan and planning to relocate to West Michigan (specifically Grand Rapids) later this year. By this time- I will have 2 years experience. I'm familar with the Grand Rapids area as I obtained my bachelors from GVSU. I'm wondering if there are an RNs that work at Spectrum Health (Butterworth), Metro Health or St. Mary's that are willing to share how things are working in these hospitals. I'm interested in learning about RN-Patient ratios, wages, work environment, etc-- any info provided will be so helpful! I'm hoping to try L&D once relocated. Thanks in advance for your time :)

Hi, I work at Helen DeVos Childrens, a part of spectrum health. I am not sure about the staffing in the adult world, but I can share with you what it is like in the children's hospital. on the general peds floors during the day you would have between 3 and 4 patients and 5-6 at night. in the picu you would have between 1-3 patients baised on acuity.

Thank you for responding :) How would you describe your management there? Do you feel like there are adequate resources for nurses? Do you all have a rapid response team or IV team?

I have experience at two of the hospitals you are talking about. If you pm me with any specific questions you have, I may be able to answer them.

What year did you graduate from GVSU? I graduated from there April 2005.
