Hi,

I'm considering transferring from Washtenaw C.C over to Oakland C.C so that I can actually get into the nursing program soon and I hear O.C.C. does not have a waitlist. Soooo, did anyone out there graduate from Oakland? If so, how was the program? Thanks!!!

I'm not so sure about that! I graduate from OCC nursing program in May and the last I heard they are behind a year and a half waiting list. I started in 05' and it took a year to get in. But ,as far as, the program was not easy and you must dedicate your time in your studies, probably like any other schools program. I like it and I feel that they are very organized and structured as far as their teaching process.

Good Luck to you and hope you do well!:p

Sweets, All Schools Have A Waiting List. Just Dont Go To Davenport

OCC is changing their admittance policy starting with the Fall 2008 start date. For students applying for Fall 2008, there will not be a wait list, admittance will be based soley on pre-req GPA.

Thank you both for replying! It helps a lot! I'm expecting it to be difficult, but I'm prepared to put nursing school above all else!!! Rn2bn07, congratulations on your soon graduation date!!!! :flowersfo :smiley_aa :mortarboard: :yeah:

I am just confirming... Starting in 2008, they will be admitting based upon pre-req GPA, however, they are still going to admit based on the initial system. Priority I, priority one is the date in which you completed the pre- requisites for the nursing program. Once they get a group under that, they will go by the GPA of those classes. There is not a wait LIST, never really has been, but they are just trying to narrow down the chances of getting in. Most likely as long as you have a 3.0 and up, you should wait approximately a year to get into OCC.

Anyone else disagree? Or have a different experience?

Let me know, thanks!

This is not correct. For fall 2008 they are going on GPA first as long as you have completed the pre-req's. They will only use the date of pre-req completion in the event of a tie. The current program outline that explains this is available on the website.
