Am waiting to hear from Miami Dade College to see if I have been accepted to thie part-time program which starts 8/06 but have yet to hear whether or not I have been accepted. Was wondering if there were any other prospective Miami Dade Nursing College students who are still waiting on there acceptance letter?

Not Miami-Dade. Univ. West Florida. The anticipation is utter hell isn't it?

I don't know about the part time program but will tell you that a close friend of mine started the accelerated in January and wishes she could have gone for the traditional. She's passing albeit with C's (which is a GREAT grade) The applications for accelerated and generic is due on 5/1 and decisions by mid June and they start in August. If you get in, let me know. There is a program for Miami/Broward county schools that pay for your school/uniform/gas/books and stipend. My friend is on it!

What's the program?? I wish I knew a program to help me with tuition!
I'm currently a MDC student and I switched from accelerated to generic this january. Still difficult, but not as fast as accelerated! :uhoh21:

Yes, I'm curious about that program too! Does it also include Palm Beach county? I'm trying to get into the accelerated program at FAU '07, but I have no idea about my chances of getting in and am open to other programs. I live in North Broward and going to school in Miami would means hours of traffic...might be worth it if tuition etc is FREE though! Please do tell us more.
Szelda and Galore:
I am not sure about PBCC but do know that FAU/MDC/BCC are eligible for the grant. I applied to FAU and despite having a 3.8 in undergrad, 3.8 in grad, 4.0 in pre-reqs and a 95% on the HESI I didn't get in.
Call Workforce One (www.wf1broward.com) @ 954-967-1010 ext 162 (Mr. Maloney) Tell him that you are interested in the grant for school. Your best bet would be to call and ask the operator if he's in and go there IN PERSON. I know personally of 2 friends that have received aid. Good luck and let me know.
Wow JUBSN, that's pretty discouraging about FAU. I only have a 3.55 in undergrad, although I have A's so far in the few pre-reqs my original degree didn't cover. What program are you doing instead?
Galore, ironically enough, the day I made that post I received an email from FAU extending me an invitation (I guess someone declined and I was placed as an alternate). I applied to Barry University and Jacksonville University and got accepted and albeit late FAU. I'm going for JU - it has a good program, nice people and I received a partial scholarship.
Ok, that makes me feel a little better :) If you don't mind me picking your brain about FAU a little bit...were you applying for the accelerated program or something else? Also, did they have interviews and did you find out if all of the factors (GPA, work experience, essay, etc) are considered equally or if one is more important than the other? I'm going to put my general application in to FAU soon so I can try to discuss this more with the program director, but in the meantime I'm really curious. I *really* want to get in at FAU because everything else would be really inconvenient and may even mean moving after I've already bought a house.
Galore, email me and I'll be more than happy to answer your questions about the process, etc, etc.
