Miami dade college finish in 1 year!?!?

Published

I'm currenty at Miami dade doing be generic full time. I'm trying to finish all my prereqs in one year. All I'm missing is ap1&2 plus labs and chem and that PHI class. My plan was to take ap1 and chemistry together in the spring and ap2 and ph1 in the summer A and microbiology in summer B. I wanted some advice because I heard that it's not so smart to take two sciences together or to take a&p in the summer. My goal is to finish this year so I can apply for the fall '10 term since generic full one only accepts students in the fall. I really don't want to wait a whole other year to apply :( please give me some advice thank you:)

I am in the generic program in 4th semester. I will graduate in 3 months...I can tell you now that unless you are very good in sciences.....AND I MEAN AWESOME!!! It would not be smart for you to take 2 sciences together. I took all of my sciences separate....Granted, it took a very long time but I got an A is EVERY SINGLE CLASS...That is why I got accepted. If you try and pack it in just to make the process go faster, then you take a chance of making less than an A in your pre-reqs. And If you don't have a high enough GPA....It doesn't matter how smart you are or how bad you want to be a nurse, MDC will not except you. I just spoke with one of my professors and she told me that a 3.8 was the Lowest GPA that was taken for the class that just started in August. I had a 4.0 when I applied. I know it kind of sucks doing it the slow route...But, if you take on more than you can handle, you can't go back and fix it.

Good luck!!

It is possible to take two sciences together and get As in both of them. I took A&P 1 and Chemistry together and got As in both of them. I'm also currently in the 4th semester of the nursing program. I would say if you know you can handle it, go for it!

Yes, it can be done. I actually took A&P 1 and 2 with labs together (asked for Profs' permission) with Microbio with lab at the same time in 1 semester and got all As. Sobasically took just 1 semester of pre-reqs before applying and going to the accelerated program.

Good luck on your decision but it can be done.
