MGH IHP ABSN Summer 2018

Published

Hi, Please who is applying to MGH IHP for summer 2018? They keep extending the deadline from Nov 1st to Dec 1st and now Dec 15th. Does any one know if the the date we hear from them will also change?

For those of you who've gotten your acceptance, do you have any thoughts on what areas/neighborhoods are best to live in? In terms of being in a fun (and safe) area while not being too far away from IHP and MGH.

I'm new to the city, just starting to learn more about it and anything helps :)

arals: There are plenty of good places in Charlestown, the Back Bay, the South End, the North End, the Seaport District, and Cambridge. They are expensive, but very nice, very fun, and very safe. East Boston, Malden, Everett, Melrose, Medford, Arlington are smaller city like vibes and less expensive and have some very safe areas.

Things to consider: Will you be taking public transportation to school or driving? Traffic is brutal. If you want to burn the candle at both ends and are looking to party, go to the North End...Easy commute to school and plenty of restuarants/bars, steps the the TD Garden, best Italian food in the city. South End used to be very dangerous in the 90s, but now has a lot of culture and sophistication thanks to the revitalization provided by the LGBT community, but it also has methadone mile and a few dangerous blocks. Hope this helps and congratulations!

Hi Jessica,

Please what was the schedule like weekly for each semester. Did you have to ne in class everyday and when did classes usually begin and end each day?

Arals154: I would suggest Somerville as the most convenient, affordable and fun place to live if going to MGH! It is one of the latest hot spots in Boston, with tons of young people moving to that area. It is very close to MGH, has nightlife, good restaurants, and you won't be completely broke after living there. It is a commute if you want to get to "downtown" (Beacon Hill, financial district, Back Bay), but is great for students.

Just received an email that I was wait-listed. Sigh.

Still remaining hopeful, who knows what will happen.

Congrats to all that got in!

Stay hopeful! I hear a lot of students end up getting accepted after being waitlisted!

I still haven't heard back yet so I'm getting really nervous. Did they tell any reason as to why you were waitlisted?

Agreed Hailey. I completely forgot about Somerville; It's a great area. Davis Sq is expensive, but everywhere else is reasonable. Davis Sq is right on the Red line and a popular destination for Tufts students.

Do any alumni have any tips for commuting vs public transportation?

Thanks Katherina!

Good luck :)

They didn't give a reason unfortunately.

Just a thank you for applying and that they will keep me updated when any spots open up , up until the start of the semester.

Also, to notify them if I take any additional classes or have changes in my resume before then.

Hi guys, has anyone who applied by 12/15 heard anything yet?

For those accepted into the program, when are your decisions/ deposits due?

I am wondering if they will start accepting people off the waitlist before the 03/1 application deadline or after. Thanks!

The email said before March 1st. There's also an open house at the end of February so I assume they will try to get as many acceptances out before then so that people can make it to the open house. Hopefully they'll let the next batch of people know soon. I applied December 1st.
