MGH IHP ABSN Spring 2019

Published

Hi everyone!!

I didn't see a thread for Spring 2019 yet so here goes. Anybody else submitted their application yet?! I'm so nervous and can't wait to hear back!!!

Hey everyone, just made a fb group :) mgh ABSN Spring 2019

I also just got in! Not sure if I want to go though - such mixed reviews online! Still waiting to hear back from UMiami, Rutgers, and NYU.

Has anyone here applied to Northeastern? Do you know if it's a stronger program?

Hey everyone! I will be attending the open house this Saturday, and probably putting my deposit down soon after! I was just curious if any of you are interested in possibly pursuing a masters after the BSN? I'm definitely interested in doing so, but not sure in what yet, so just wanted to reach out to see if anyone had thought of it/ wanted to do ABSN first instead of direct-entry programs?

Hi Nm94,

I'm in the same boat as you! I want to get my masters, I just don't know in what yet either..so I'm planning to work as a RN for a few years and see where that takes me!

Awesome! Are you gonna be attending MGH?

Hey! I agree too that I would like to get a Master's or become an NP but I am starting as a nurse because it is faster and cheaper and then your employer will help pay for continuing education. Everyone I talk to who did an accelerated nursing program gives the same advice---save money and find a cheap program. So that's my plan.

That being said, im trying to decide between MGH and another school much farther away. Are you guys going to MGH? Does the cost scare you? Even with a decent scholarship and no undergraduate debt, my biggest fear is the cost of living in Boston scares me. Any thoughts here guys?

Hey! That sounds great & is basically my plan as well. I am going to MGH! Cost is definitely a concern, but I'll be commuting from home which should definitely help (I live about 30 mins from the city). I do think if you can save money by living a little bit outside of the city that could help (if it's doable), and maybe as the program continues, be able to get a part time job if possible. I have heard good things about MGH helping students find clinicals, which often doesn't happen in other programs, which is one of the biggest pros for me!

Anyone hear back from the waitlist yet ?! I hate not knowing it's killing me !
