Methodist Houston student summer internship

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had heard of or been involved in the summer student internship at Methodist in the Med center in Houston. I'm going into J2 and trying to figure out what to do next summer. Thanks.

As far as I know, you turn in a resume and staff recommendations, you are then interviewed by the hospitals themselves and they select 10 people and hire them. Where are you going to school?

I go to UT Austin. I just started J2 (today actually) and I'll be graduating with my BSN in Dec 2005. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to do the Methodist interniship or take a critical care class through UT. Thanks for the info.

If Methodist is a hospital you want to end up working for, getting that externship puts your foot in the door for employment for sure. Three people at my school were in the program and all three are now working there.

Did they enjoy the internship? Also, do you know areas they worked in?

Obviously, they all enjoyed the internship and the hospital because they all decided to stay at the hospital and work there as an RN. I don't see why they would want to work there afterwards if they didn't enjoy their experience there during the externship. One of them was in MICU, and think the other two were cardiac related. It's not easy to get into the externship though so interview with them early. Good luck.

Sorry, I didn't phrase that first question very well. What I was wanting to know was if they viewed the program as beneficial as a student and if they felt it was worthwhile for them to use their time in this way. Like you stated they obviously liked Methodist if they chose to continue working there. I was wanting to know more specifically if they gave any feedback about the summer program itself, not necessarily the hospital. Sorry about any confusion.
