Metformin and IV contrast

Published

My father type II diabetic, 69 years old was allowed to take metformin after IV contrast. He took it after 7 to 8 hours. He was not given any pre or post ct scan restriction on metformin intake. Is this normal? Also, he was given less than 500 ml of plain water to be taken within 30 minutes before CT scan of abdomen and pelvic. Hope this won't have any affects on the reports.
