well, kiddo, i guess you're in for it now. just kidding! :chuckle i think that what you are in for is acid/base balance, metabolic and respiratory acidosis and alkalosis. assuming that, i'm giving you some links on that plus links for information about abgs since a lot of students have a lot of trouble understanding blood gasses.
http://classes.kumc.edu/son/nurs466/lecture%20notes/abg.htm - nice outline of how blood gasses link up with acid/base metabolic and respiratory problems
http://medi-smart.com/cardiac3.htm - another abg explanation site
http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/blood_gases/test.html - an explanation of blood gasses – there are links within the text that you should check out as well
http://www.mercksource.com/pp/us/cns/cns_hl_adam.jspzqzpgzezzszppdocszszuszszcnszszcontentzszadamzszencyzszarticlezsz003855zpzhtm - an explanation of abgs from the merck source resource library
http://sprojects.mmi.mcgill.ca/resp/ - you might find this site helpful. it's tailored to physicians, but it has pictures (animations, i think) and it is an alternative read on this information for you.
thanks a lot!!!!
here is another web site i found recently that might be of help to you.
http://classes.kumc.edu/son/nurs420/unit2/unit2.html - information for the nursing students at university of kansas. this page has links to tutorials on ventilation/perfusion, oxygen delivery, abg analysis. this is a very nice site to get information about patients on ventilators.
thanks a lot i owe you one
